### Palo Pinto County Emergency Services District No. 1 Contracts to Purchase Land for Future Emergency Services Facility

During a special called meeting on August 27, 2025, the Board of Commissioners of Palo Pinto County Emergency Services District No. 1 (ESD No. 1) approved an agreement for the purchase of approximately 6.896 acres of undeveloped land situated at the northeast corner of U.S. Highway 180 and State Highway 337, in the city limits of Mineral Wells. The purchase and sale agreement is subject to due diligence conditions customary to a commercial real estate transaction for unimproved land. Subject to satisfaction of those conditions, ESD No.1 anticipates a closing of the transaction within the next thirty (30) days.

“If completed, the acquisition will mark a significant advancement in ESD No. 1’s ongoing efforts to enhance emergency fire and EMS services in Palo Pinto County, and to align more closely those efforts with the City of Mineral Wells emergency fire and EMS services.” stated ESD No. 1 Fire Chief Danny Watkins. “Securing this site, will position ESD No. 1 to better supplement emergency fire and EMS services to the residents of Mineral Wells as and when the need arises, in addition to the surrounding areas of Palo Pinto County for many years to come.”

ESD No. 1 will continue to assess long-term requirements and potential opportunities for the property, focusing on improving service capabilities, response times, and ensuring that resources are strategically placed for optimal benefit to the taxpayers of Palo Pinto County.

“ESD No. 1 is dedicated to providing effective and reliable protection of life and property throughout our county,” Watkins emphasized. “The purchase of this land takes us a step closer to assuring that we can meet the needs of our expanding population and improve emergency fire and EMS response and services across the areas of Palo Pinto County for which we are responsible.”
